Beef Stroganoff

Here is the recipe that I promised yesterday.  It is what I made a couple of nights ago for my husband’s birthday.  After (finally) looking at some other recipes online, I might add white wine, mushrooms, and green onions;  however, my husband doesn’t like mushrooms!  Anyway, here it is:

Beef stroganoff for a crowd:

3 1/2  pounds steak, cut into strips or small bite sized pieces

2 whole onions, cut into thin 1/2 inch or so strips

oil

Cook beef (lightly sprinkled with salt or Bragg’s liquid aminos) and onions ‘wok style’, on a hot pan until just done

add 3 cups water, bring to boiling

In a separate bowl add 1/2 cup flour, and 1/2 cup water or so, beating with a wire whisk til smooth.  Gradually add this to the boiling water, stirring constantly with the wire whisk til all is added.  Stir for a few more minutes, or until the mixture has thickened.  Add:

Beef boillion (we use “Better Than Bouillion”), about 3 Tablespoons, stir well.

Add 2 pints of sour cream (yes, you read me right!), and stir until just hot.

Spoon over rice, and enjoy!

We love it with steamed broccoli and potato rolls.
